lululemon’s newest digital print is inspired by Chinese Lunar New Year

February 16, 2018

With its rich, red hue and delicate floral artwork, lululemon’s newest digital print celebrates traditional elements of the New Year Festival and Chinese culture.
The colour red symbolizes good fortune and joy for the Lunar New Year, as most notably found in traditional red pockets and gifting during the festival, while flowers like magnolias, peonies, plum and lily blossoms are prominent symbols in Chinese culture and art.

Each flower and branch was hand-drawn and brought to life with different shades of red. The illustrations were turned into screens and layered to create a pattern that conveyed a sense of movement. The artwork was digitized and refined, resulting in a dynamic, photo real print applied to lululemon’s world-class technical fabrics, including NuluxTM and Luxtreme®.
Each piece featuring this new print is designed with training in mind, from the new Sweat Times Bra, a medium support, all-sport bra, to guest favourites like the Train Times Pant, Fast and Free 7/8 Tight, Wunder Under High Rise Tight and Hotty Hot Short.
This limited-edition print is available starting the week of Chinese Lunar New Year at select lululemon stores worldwide and online.
