lululemon's Newest Digital Print is Inspired by New York City Street Art

August 8, 2017

Just in time for a new training season, lululemon is introducing a bold new digital print from its Concept team.

The inspiration for this innovative print is drawn from the textures of torn advertising, including billboards and posters layered on corrugated hoarding, which the team photographed on the streets of New York City. Examining the details of wheat pasting on various city structures, they explored how different materials can be combined to form striking works of street art.

Returning to the studio, they emulated this method, layering various photographic images in different colours, textures and patterns to craft a bold, yet balanced medium. The collage was then digitized, resulting in a refined, photo-real print applied directly onto lululemon’s technical fabrics, including Nulux™ and Luxtreme®.

Each piece featuring this new print is designed with training in mind and uniquely showcases its energy and intentional flow, from the new Break Free Collection to classic lululemon styles like the Energy Bra and Wunder Under High Rise Tight.

Available starting August 2017 in select women’s styles at lululemon stores worldwide.
