With March being Brain Injury Awareness Month in the US, lululemon and Elite Ambassador and professional snowboarder Kevin Pearce are jetting off on a West Coast tour, popping up in different cities to bring awareness to traumatic brain injuries (TBI), as well as premiere a new LoveYourBrain film and fundraise for #MindfulMarch.
Thus far, Kevin and his brother Adam and lululemon have made stops in Ojai, LA, San Francisco and Tahoe in a decked out 1973 airstream with upcoming stops in Bend, Portland, Vancouver and Whistler. The team have been hosting fundraiser yoga classes with lululemon ambassadors, dinners and connections at lululemon stores to bring to life the “invisible" challenge of TBIs that lead to lifelong physical and emotional challenges.
Kevin was at the height of his snowboarding career in 2009, training for the 2010 Winter Olympics, when he hit his head on the halfpipe. Kevin’s remarkable resilience during his brain injury rehab was brought to life in the award winning HBO documentary “The Crash Reel” that appeared at Sundance in 2013.
Due to the success of the film and Kevin’s powerful public speaking tour, LoveYourBrain was born, a non-profit that supports, educates and improves the lives of those affected by traumatic brain injuries, while also focusing on yoga as a way to cope with injury.
lululemon is excited to support Kevin’s LoveYourBrain organization on the West Coast Tour, and furthermore via lululemon’s new community-based social impact program called Here to Be.
