This Fall, we approached colour in a new way by incorporating two dye techniques: Shibori and Ombre. Both of these hands-on techniques were applied to nylon fabric, allowing the richness of the dyes to show up with the highest level of colour and detail achievable.
The creative process of Shibori uses an interesting technique to create one-of-a-kind patterns. The fabric is twisted and then tightly bound by hand using long thin strips of material to create resists. The resists prevent the dye from reaching the cloth when it is dipped into a dye bath. Once the resists are removed we're left with a vibrant pattern created by the contrast between areas of rich dye and those of natural fabric.
Our other new process this season is Ombre. True artistry is at play here, where individual garments are meticulously dipped into dye, and then slowly and precisely drawn out to create a full-range gradient of colour. Each ombre-dyed garment is unique, so you’ll never find two exactly alike.
